Heart-Healthy Tips from the American Heart Association

  • Be sure to buy and eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, at meals and for snacks. When fresh isn't available, choose frozen or canned vegetables, and fruits in water without added sugars, saturated or trans fats, or salt.
  • Walking is the simplest way to start and continue a fitness journey, and is the single most effective form of exercise to achieve heart health. It’s easy and safe, it costs nothing to get started, and it has the lowest dropout rate of any type of exercise.
