First Source Goes Blue to Raise Awareness For Autism
April 2nd, 2014
First Source Federal Credit Union will be going blue to raise awareness for Autism on Wednesday, April 2nd, World Autism Awareness Day. First Source is joining the autism awareness movement to, “Light It Up Blue.” In celebration, the branches will be decorated in blue and employees will be wearing blue to support the cause. As well, the First Source New Hartford Branch exterior will be lit up with blue lights.
Autism prevalence has increased 78% in 5 years and unfortunately continues to rise according to the Autism Speaks organization.
“At First Source Federal Credit Union we are committed to raising awareness of the devastating effects the diagnosis of autism has on an individual and their family,” said Mike Parsons, President and CEO of First Source. “With the rate of occurrence of autism now at 1 in 50 children, it is of paramount importance to not only find the causes but also support the programs and services that support local individuals and families dealing with autism.”

National Wear Red Day
February 7th, 2014
Today is The American Heart Association’s National “Go Red” Day and First Source is proudly be participating. This is a day when our employees wear red and our physical branches will be sporting the color too. We do this to help raise awareness of heart disease in women. Many of our employees and Members are women. It is important to us to help educate them as well as the greater community on taking care of yourself and knowing the signs of a heart attack.
Women tend to take care of others, putting their family, friends and jobs first. Inevitably, this means they are putting themselves last. Women need to focus on themselves too. They need to listen to their bodies. Sometimes the very symptoms of a heart attack can be perceived as stress and are often ignored.
First Source is honored to do our part to empower, educate, and encourage women to take charge of their health. Join us in supporting the American Heart Association and the Go Red for Women movement on May 7th at the Go Red for Women Luncheon at Hart’s Hill Inn. This will be First Source’s fifth year as the Luncheon’s Presenting Sponsor.
First Source Spreads Holiday Cheer
December 18th, 2013
We dropped off presents yesterday for 9 families! Originally we adopted 7 families for the holidays through Kids Oneida but then we had such an amazing response from employees that we adopted two more! Tis the season of giving!
One of our Holiday Traditions…
December 5th, 2013
A few years back we started a new holiday “tradition”. We’re once again looking forward to “adopting” seven families in need for the holidays through a tremendous organization, Kids Oneida. To make their holidays a little brighter, we provide gifts and items of need to these families from their wish lists.
We are given a list of the names/ages of the children and what they are in need of and what they would like to find under the tree. Each one of our branches plus our Member Care Center has a family with New Hartford having 3. Employees can shop for items on the list or give monetary donations. Once the shopping is done, we set up wrapping stations around our branches and everyone helps out when they can.
Instead of giving to one another in the office, we give back to our community and we hope you’re inspired this holiday to do a little something for someone in need as well.
